I’ve been SO excited to share this post with you! It’s no secret that I am a lover of smoothie bowls and acai/pitaya bowls, and well, just smoothies in general. There’s just something about eating a smoothie with a spoon and decorating it with a bunch of your favorite superfood toppings. It’s SO fun! And satisfying. Plus, you’re getting a ton of nutrients. What could be better?
We made this smoothie bar on a Sunday during a girls weekend instead of going out for brunch, which is always fun, but– usually leaves me feeling like I indulged way too much, and like I spent too much money. There’s certainly a time and a place for those type of brunches, don’t get me wrong. I am going to show you how to make a smoothie bar with a few different bases, and plenty of topping ideas! Let get to it.
Mango Green Smoothie Bowl
photo # 1
For the base:
1 c. frozen mango chunks
1/2 medium banana, previously sliced and frozen (this helps to create the thick “ice cream”-like texture
1 large handful spinach
1 tsp. freshly grated ginger (optional)
3/4-1 c. unsweetened vanilla almond milk, coconut milk, or coconut water (you might need to add more/less depending on your blender and how frozen your ingredients are)
*to top the mango green smoothie bowls, I used sliced banana, bee pollen, and passionfruit!
Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl

For the base:
1 c. frozen strawberries
1 medium banana, previously sliced and frozen
1-1 1/4 c. unsweetened vanilla almond milk
drizzle of honey (optional)
*to top the strawberry banana smoothie bowls, I used banana, blueberries, chia seeds, and goji berries
Blueberry Cacao Smoothie Bowl
photo # 3
For the base:
1 packet frozen acai pureé (I buy the Sambazon brand from Whole Foods)
1 medium banana, previously sliced and frozen
1 1/2 T. cacao powder
3/4-1 c. unsweetened vanilla almond milk
*to top the blueberry cacao smoothie bowls, I used hemp seeds, blueberries, and cacao nibs
Other topping ideas:
shredded coconut
sliced almonds
granola
chopped cashews, pecans, pistachios, or walnuts
pumpkin seeds
sunflower seeds
sliced strawberries
fresh mango
sliced kiwi
almond butter
peanut butter
cashew butter
Other blend-in ideas:
maca powder
spirulina
stevia
dates
protein powder
PB2
If you are making these for a crowd, I’d recommend making the smoothie bases in batches, and placing them in the freezer while you are finishing all the batches so they don’t melt. Also, before you start blending, have the toppings set out in bowls with spoons so everyone can decorate their own! When ready to serve, have everyone pick what base they want, and then decorate!
