Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel White Russians

I made us a cocktail to ring in the new year! If you’ve been reading my blog for any amount of time, you know I love a good cocktail, especially a festive one! I added a special twist to these white russians and added chocolate fudge sauce (OMG), and salted caramel! It’s pretty much dessert in a glass!

Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel White Russians

The fudgy dark chocolate sauce addition to these is absolutely to die for! I used my absolute favorite chocolate to make the sauce, Chocolove! I’ve been using their chocolate in my baking for years, because the quality and taste is truly amazing. I love their dark chocolate especially, which is what I used in these!

The chocolate sauce is super easy to make, and there will be extra so you can use it as a topping for ice cream and whatever else your heart desires.

Salted caramel and chocolate is a match made in heaven, so naturally I had to combine the flavors in this drink! I rimmed the glasses in salted caramel, and then these pretty metallic gold sprinkles. I just love how festive they are! I can’t get over it.

Because I can’t get enough chocolate, I also added some on top of the drinks! So you get a little more taste in every sip. Who could argue with that?!

Another addition: more salted caramel on top! I used store-bought salted caramel here, but you could totally make your own too! I actually love making my own, but this holiday season has been crazy! I’m sure you can relate.

Another thing I love about Chocolove is that their products are made with all natural ingredients, and the cocoa beans they use are premium beans. It’s also ground finer than most chocolates so their chocolate is SUPER smooth and delicious. It has such a rich, deep chocolate flavor that I have a hard time finding in any other brand. It’s so, so good.

Who else is ready to ring in the New Year with one (or two) of these?

Ingredients

For the chocolate fudge sauce

  • 2/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 (3.2 ounce) bars dark chocolate (I used Chocolove 70% Extra Dark Chocolate)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the cocktails

  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka
  • 2 teaspoons (about 1 ounce) chocolate fudge sauce
  • 1 small spoonful (about 1/2 an ounce) salted caramel + extra for topping and rimming the glass
  • 2 ounces heavy cream
  • extra chopped dark chocolate for topping
  • crushed ice
  • gold sprinkles for rimming the glass

Instructions

For the chocolate fudge sauce

  1. Begin by making the chocolate fudge sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, corn syrup, brown sugar, salt, and half of the chocolate. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat slightly and simmer for 2-3 minutes or until chocolate has melted. Remove from heat and add remaining chocolate, butter, and vanilla. Stir to combine and until all chocolate has melted. Set aside to cool completely before making the cocktails.

For the cocktails

  1. To make the cocktails, pour some salted caramel on a small plate and some gold sprinkles on another. Rim the glass in the salted caramel, then rim in the gold sprinkles to adhere. Drizzle some of the chocolate fudge sauce on the inside of the glass. Fill the glass with crushed ice. Add the vodka, Kahlua, chocolate fudge sauce, salted caramel, and heavy cream. Stir to combine and to get the chocolate sauce and caramel all mixed together in the drink. Top with a small splash of heavy cream, a drizzle of salted caramel, and a sprinkle of chopped dark chocolate. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

*Makes a bunch of extra chocolate sauce! Will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks!
