These Dark Chocolate Malted Martinis are a perfect after dinner drink or fun cocktail to serve this holiday season! They’re wonderful to make for Halloween, or for when you want a sweet treat! They’re made with a homemade dark chocolate fudge sauce, chocolate malt powder, chocolate liqueur, and vodka!

(This post is sponsored by Chocolove! Thank you so so much for reading and supporting the brands that I love!)

If I could make a cocktail and dessert in one, these would absolutely be it. They’re decadent in the best way, and such a fun treat for Halloween or any holiday this season!

Halloween has always been filllled with traditions for me and my family. I’ve always loved this time of year (obviously), Halloween in general, and my birthday happens to be the next day, November 1st, so it’s always been super special to me!

So these aren’t kid friendly at all, but the adults always need something to drink on Halloween, right?! Growing up, my parents always went to a bonfire with our family friends/neighbors, and they’d enjoy a few drinks while the kids trick-or-treated. Sometimes it was spiked apple cider, mulled wine, and I remember there being coffee chocolate tequila too.

I wanted to make a candy/dessert inspired cocktail, so I went with a chocolate malted milk ball inspired version and oh my goodness they’re SO delicious and decadent. Such a treat!

I of course used my favorite chocolate in the whole world, Chocolove dark chocolate! It’s so perfect in the chocolate fudge that gets drizzled on the inside of the glass, and it goes INSIDE the cocktail too! So amazingly good. And the extras keep great in the fridge for ice cream and whatever else you wanna put it on!

Another super fun part of these is the rim. I literally rim the glass in the dark chocolate fudge sauce, then dip it in crushed chocolate malted milk ball candies. It’s seriously dessert and a cocktail in one!

These remind me of a white russian, but more chocolatey. The addition of the chocolate malt powder and chocolate bitters really make these extra delish and rich. And you can honestly make them as chocolate filled as you want! If you want to use more fudge sauce, more power to you!

They’re made with vodka, a little chocolate liqueur, the chocolate fudge sauce, chocolate malt powder, half and half, and a dash of chocolate bitters. If you can’t find the flavored bitters, no worries at all. They can be omitted!

Was anyone else a huge fan of the chocolate malted milk balls as a kid?!

These are so fun I can’t get over it!

Ingredients

For the dark chocolate fudge sauce

  • 2/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 (3.2 ounce) bars Chocolove 70% dark chocolate
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the martini

  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka
  • 1/2 ounce creme de cacao
  • 1 1/2 ounces dark chocolate fudge sauce, plus extra for drizzling inside the glass
  • 3 tablespoons chocolate malt powder*
  • 2 ounces half and half
  • dash of chocolate bitters*
  • crushed chocolate malted milk balls for rimming the glass

Instructions

  1. Begin by making the chocolate fudge sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, corn syrup, brown sugar, salt, and half of the chocolate. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat slightly and simmer gently for a couple minutes or until chocolate has melted. Remove from heat and add remaining chocolate, butter, and vanilla. Stir to combine and until all chocolate has melted. Set aside to cool completely before making the cocktails.

  2. To make the cocktails, pour some of the dark chocolate fudge sauce on a small plate and some crushed chocolate malted milk balls on another. Rim the glass in the salted caramel, then rim in the crushed malted milk balls to adhere. Drizzle some of the chocolate fudge sauce on the inside of the glass. Fill the glass with crushed ice. Add a few ice cubes to a cocktail shaker. Add the vodka, creme de cacao, chocolate fudge sauce, chocolate malt powder, half and half, and chocolate bitters. Shake for 20-30 seconds, then pour into glass. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

*This is the chocolate malt powder I like to use!
*If you can't find chocolate bitters at your liquor store, no worries, you can omit it, but this is the brand I use!

*This recipe makes a bunch of extra chocolate sauce! Will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks!
