This Mocha Cold Brew Cashew Smoothie is the perfect way to start out your morning because it’s coffee and breakfast in one! It’s filled with frozen bananas and cashews for creaminess, dates for sweetness, cold brew, cocoa powder, vanilla, and a little sea salt! It’s insanely delicious and you can add your favorite smoothie add-ins to it! I love adding collagen, hemp hearts, or chia seeds!

I’ve been on a huge smoothie kick lately and this one is so unbelievably good! It’s the perfect amount of sweet, super creamy from the frozen bananas and cashews, and rich with coffee and chocolate flavor. It’s almost like drinking dessert, but it’s actually super good for us! Win, win.

I’m one of those weirdos that craves smoothies more in the colder months. I have no idea why, but it’s been that way forever. I typically rotate between green smoothies with lots of ginger, blueberry almond butter smoothies, and when I’m craving something a little sweeter and more fun – these have been my go-to.

I’m SO OBSESSED with what the cashews do to the smoothie. I soak them overnight before adding them, and it creates basically the creamiest, most luxurious texture evvvver.

And not to mention the frozen bananas – those do just the same. They make this super super creamy like a milkshake! I actually like my smoothies more drinkable, but you could add more banana or decrease the cashew milk for a thicker, soft serve style smoothie!

Oh my gosh it’s soooo good! I can’t get over it.

In recent years, I’ve actually become so sensitive to caffeine, that I can’t have it at all. I drink strictly decaf, only a couple times a week, because sometimes even that makes me feel like my heart is gonna explode. It’s crazy! I used to drink espresso shots like they were going out of style. It’s funny how our chemistry changes over time.

Basically, I have to make my decaf cold brew at home, because no store in the universe sells it. But, if you’re a normal human and can drink caffeine, then buy your cold brew from the store to make this realllly easy.

Also – this is how I make homemade cold brew. (Just an FYI that post is from a million years ago and I’m super embarrassed to even link it here. But it’s a great recipe/method!)

Another great thing about this, is that you can add whatever add-ins you like! I personally don’t like protein powder, but I love adding collagen, hemp hearts, or chia seeds if I’m in the mood. Sometimes I don’t add anything, but there are times when I want a little extra nutrient/protein boost!

I sweeten these smoothies with a couple of medjool dates and just a tablespoon of pure maple syrup. The maple is optional, but I think it balances all of the flavors really beautifully.

Definitely don’t leave out the pinch of sea salt. It makes this smoothie too. Chocolate + salt is only the best combo ever!

This is exactly how I want to start my Monday!

Recipe Notes

*You can also substitute cacao powder.
*This is how I make cold brew coffee at home, but you can certainly buy it from the store to make things super easy!
*This is the collagen I use and I love it! It's tasteless and blends really well into smoothies!

Cold brew smoothies are such a great summer treat! I followed your recipe but I didn’t add maple syrup only because I’d made a batch of “magical coffee” cold brew and it has brown sugar in it. I didn’t have cashews, but will definitely do that next time. This time i just added some peanut butter. So delicious! I added flax seed meal, too, I just remembered.
