These superfood smoothies are filled with so many nutrients and taste like dessert! They’re filled with natural sources of plant protein, healthy fats, fruits, and vegetables for a nutritious and satisfying breakfast or snack!
I have no idea why, but I crave smoothies way more in the winter than I do in the summertime. It’s a good thing because I can cram so many superfoods and healthy ingredients into my smoothies, which prevents me from catching all the flu’s and sicknesses! Another weird thing about me: I still drink iced coffee when its freezing. I just prefer it!
Up first is this peanut butter avocado smoothie. If you haven’t noticed, I add peanut butter to nearly anything because I love it so much. With the addition of avocado (and frozen banana!) it ends up being ridiculously creamy and delicious. All the healthy fats and greens!
And then we have the red velvet superfood smoothie! It’s full of strawberries, raspberries, frozen banana, cacao nibs, cacao powder, vanilla, and a secret ingredient..a beet! That’s where it gets most of its beautiful color. Beets have so many nutrients including potassium, magnesium, and fiber. They’re also super cleansing for your system, and good for your blood too. Cool, right?
I love buying the pre-steamed beets from Trader Joes, but I often buy them fresh and roast them in a little coconut oil. You could even add a chunk of raw beet to this. Any type will work!
The chia seeds in this make it even creamier.
Another requirement: add more peanut butter on top. Because more is more, in this scenario.
I used cacao nibs and cacao powder in this, but feel free to use regular unsweetened cocoa powder that you’d use for baking, or chocolate chips/dark chocolate chunks in place of the cacao nibs. You do you!
