These Moroccan Chicken Skewers with Lemony Feta Tzatziki are marinated in a garlicky yogurt marinade, then grilled on skewers and served with a creamy, lemony tzatziki sauce! They are packed with TONS of flavor, and make a perfect dinner alongside roasted or grilled vegetables!

I’ve been DYING to share this chicken recipe with you guys for months now. I’ve been making it often, but haven’t gotten around to posting it, and I wanted it to be perfect! It is honestly one of my favorite things I’ve EVER made. The chicken is insanely flavorful, and the lemony feta tzatziki is the perfect accompaniment. I want to put it on everything! Including tons of fresh pita and/or naan. Soooo good.

I love serving this with grilled veggies, like zucchini, peppers, and mushrooms, but it would be delish with roasted veggies as we move into fall!

Like how crazy is that?! I still can’t believe we’re here in September, but I am READY for my favorite season.

So this lemony feta tzatziki. It’s better than regular tzatziki because there’s feta in it! Cheese > no cheese. Obviously.

It’s made in the food processor so the feta gets blended into it and adds the most perfect salty bite! And a little lemon zest in addition to fresh lemon juice just brightens it all up.

I haven’t gotten around to making fresh pita or naan with this recipe yet, but that’s next on my list. I just want to dunk all of the bready things into this deliciousness!

And this chicken. OMG. Yogurt marinades make chicken SO juicy and tender I can’t even believe it. This chicken reminds me of shawarma chicken, if you’ve ever had that. Super garlicky, filled with flavorful spices, not spicy at all – just super delicious, and juicy as heck.

That’s all I ever want in my chicken!

This is honestly chicken I could NEVER ever get sick of. And that’s saying a lot!

The marinade has plain Greek yogurt, lemon juice, paprika, smoked paprika, ground coriander, cumin, garlic (5 cloves!!!), and salt and pepper. I like to marinade it overnight, but if you’re short on time, you don’t have to! It’s better the longer you marinade it, but if you only have a couple hours, that’s fine too!

You can’t mess this stuff up.

I recently made a HUGE batch of this for about 20 members of my family and it was gone in less than 5 minutes. Like pounds and pounds of chicken.

And you realllllly can’t go wrong if this stuff is involved.

And you may want to double it! Well, the chicken too actually. It’s all just SO good! You have to make it!

It’s my new favorite dinner. If you couldn’t tell. 🙂

Ingredients

For the chicken

  • 1 3/4 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-1 1/2'' chunks
  • 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt*
  • juice of 2 lemons
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon pepper
  • wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes prior to grilling

For the tzatziki

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt*
  • 1 cup diced seedless cucumber
  • zest of 1/2 a lemon
  • juice of 1/2 a lemon
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 teaspoons red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

For the chicken

  1. Make the marinade for the chicken. In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, paprika, chili powder, cumin, coriander, paprika, garlic, salt, and pepper and whisk to combine. Add the chicken and stir to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, but overnight is best for optimal flavor!

  2. Once ready to grill, thread the chicken chunks on your soaked skewers. Preheat an grill outdoor grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. (If you're using an indoor grill pan, rub some oil or nonstick spray on the grates, the yogurt can make things stick!) Grill the skewers for 7-9 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of your chunks. (I like to tent foil over the pan if I'm using an indoor grill pan, it helps keep the heat in, and keeps things juicier!)

  3. Let chicken skewers rest for a few minutes, then serve with the lemony feta tzatziki and pita or naan bread!

For the tzatziki

  1. Combine the Greek yogurt, cucumber, lemon zest, lemon juice, feta, dill, garlic, red wine vinegar, salt, and pepper to a food processor and blend until smooth and creamy. Season to taste with additional salt and pepper if desired.

Recipe Notes

*I used plain 0% Greek yogurt here, but 2% or full fat work just as well!
