These blood orange beergaritas are made with tequila, Grand Marnier, simple syrup, fresh blood orange juice, lime juice, and a splash of Mexican beer! They’re perfect to enjoy anytime, or to make pitcher-style for a crowd!

I can’t stop with the blood oranges! They’re my favorite thing about winter, and one of the only things that gets me through these bitter cold days! I’m all about the warmth and sunshine. These make it better though!

They’re the most perfect cocktail for the Super Bowl, or for anytime, really. Margaritas are always a good idea.

I have a ton of margarita recipes on the blog, like these winter ones, mango jalapeño margs, pomegranate rosemary clementine margaritas, and a strawberry hibiscus version! If you can’t tell, I just really love them. Even though I’m not a big drinker, you can always count on me having a marg. Or a citrusy IPA, or Spanish red. If you’ve been reading for awhile you already know that!

If you’ve never had a beergarita, it’s basically a margarita topped with a splash of beer, and then stirred together! It might sound weird, but it’s such a wonderful combination. The beer flavor is subtle but gives just a little zing!

This apple cider version is soooo good too.

I can’t begin to tell you how good these are. The blood orange flavor mixed with lime is my ALL TIME favorite flavor of margarita, and with the beer added, it’s just to die for!!

If you’re having company over and want to make these without having to shake everyones margaritas separately, you could totally do these pitcher style!

Just measure everything out in the quantities you need, add everything to a pitcher, then add some crushed ice and beer right before serving! Super easy.

And I’m all about easy entertaining. Especially since that makes room for more margaritas!

I know you’re on board too!

Ingredients

For the margaritas

  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1/2 ounce Grand Marnier
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 1/2 ounces freshly squeezed blood orange juice
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 ounces your favorite Mexican beer
  • blood orange and lime slices for serving
  • coarse margarita salt for rimming the glasses

For the simple syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Make the simple syrup. Bring water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Once boiling, add the sugar and stir for 30 seconds or until dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool completely.

  2. To make the margarita, moisten the edge of your glass with a lime wedge and rim in the salt. Fill the glass with crushed ice. Add a few ice cubes to a cocktail shaker and add the tequila, Grand Marnier, simple syrup, blood orange juice, and lime juice. Shake for 20 seconds. Pour into the glass and and top with the beer. Stir to combine. Garnish with a slice of blood orange and lime!

Recipe Notes

*Makes a lot of extra simple syrup. Will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks!
*If you want to make these pitcher-style for a crowd, I'd measure all of the margarita ingredients out for how many people you want to make them for, add everything to a pitcher, and chill the mixture in the fridge. When you're ready to serve, add the crushed ice and beer, and serve!
